Christian McCaffrey fires back at influencer over Olivia Culpo critique - New York Post

Christian McCaffrey defended wife Olivia Culpo on Tuesday after a fashion influencer posted a lengthy critique of the newlywed’s Dolce & Gabbana wedding dress on social media.

On Monday, stylist Kennedy Bingham discussed the long-sleeve ball gown Culpo, 32, wore for her June 29 nuptials to the 49ers running back in Rhode Island, stating “there is no personality in this dress.”

“Usually wedding dresses will have something of the bride injected into it, whether it’s a little bit of beading some jewelry, detailing, something, this is just nothing, it’s the absence of personality,” Bingham said in the nearly six-minute clip on TikTok, which has amassed two million views as of Thursday.

McCaffrey, 28, fired back at Bingham on her Instagram page, where the video was also shared, and commented: “What an evil thing to post online. I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, the way my beautiful wife does.”

Culpo also responded to the critique, as documented in a screenshot captured by Bingham, and said: “Wow what an absolutely evil person you are. I hope no one ever tears you apart in this way because it’s extremely hurtful. I love this dress and it was everything I wanted and more.”

In Bingham’s video, the stylist also dissected comments made by Culpo in a recent interview with Vogue, where she explained she didn’t want her dress “to exude sex in any way, shape, or form,” and that she wanted the look to be “as serious” as the “covenant” of marriage.

“If I were to just look at the dress, I would see a beautiful bride in a beautiful, simple, elegant dress. If we stopped there at just the way the dress looks, we’d really have nothing to say, but it’s all the stuff surrounding the dress that leaves kind of a bitter aftertaste,” Bingham said.

“… Now listen, there is nothing wrong with wanting a modest wedding dress, or just modest attire in general, but the way that she was talking about this went beyond just wanting something modest for herself and pushing this idea of what she thinks all brides should look like.”

Bingham also found it “weird” how much Culpo spoke about “coverage,” as the former Miss Universe winner told Vogue: “When I think about Christian and what he loves and the moments that he thinks that I’m most beautiful, it’s absolutely in something like this: timeless, covered, and elegant.”

The couple has been together since 2019 and got engaged in 2023.

“I also just think it’s so weird how much she’s talking about coverage, especially as someone who in her day-to-day life is not exactly a modest dresser…  I just think the usage of the word covered is so icky because you are not covered in day-to-day life, and also, why is he thinking you’re the most beautiful when you’re covered? That’s such an odd thing,” Bingham said.

Bingham capped off the video by stating, “It’s very clear that this was not a wedding, this was a conservative campaign, and it wasn’t even well done.”

“… You took this disingenuous pick-me route that honestly felt more like you were thinking about your narrative than you were about your actual marriage,” continued Bingham, who captioned the clip: “From Miss Universe to Miss Pick Me.”

In addition to the ball gown, Culpo sported two other looks for the reception and afterparty.

She and McCaffrey have been together since 2019.
