There’s no doubt that Coachella is always a polarizing fashion affair. But the haphazard outfits mixed in with the surprisingly good make Coachella … Coachella. Of course, the 2024 lineup held its weight: Doja Cat gave the performance of a lifetime; Lana Del Rey returned to her roots; and Sabrina Carpenter garnered a new wave of fans. The live music is great, but the outfit judging is even better — and as we anticipated, cowboy flair, denim, and frothy, semi-sheer layers took the forefront. Below are all the best, and worst, Coachella looks from the weekend.
Best Throwback Fit: Alessandra AmbrosioAlessandra Ambrosio was seen arriving at the Celsius event in what can only be described as a pure, tried-and-true Coachella ensemble. With all of fashion looking to the past, this level of nostalgia was appreciated.
Most Talked About: Barry KeoghanThe internet’s favorite Irishman didn’t arrive unnoticed — all eyes were on his matching Burberry look and Versace tank as he lost his mind during Sabrina Carpenter’s set.
Best Cowgirl Reference: Teyana TaylorOn and off the red carpet, Teyana Taylor turns heads. While a cowboy hat isn’t rare during Coachella, her modernization of it with a semi-sheer dress and denim Balenciaga boots during the Revolve Festival was.
Best Boot Duo: Ashlee Simpson and Evan RossIs it a Croc? Is it a Pringles can? Is it “fab,” like Ivy Getty’s comment? Who knows. Onlookers were equal parts shocked and intrigued. Our team is still very split. Either way, Pringles wins.
Best All Black: Paris HiltonGone are the days of Paris Hilton exclusively sporting Barbie pink. The forever icon stepped out on Coachella day two with a western-inspired outfit featuring a 12th Tribe cowboy hat.
Least Appropriate Coachella Look: Karrueche TranCoachella is meant to be playful, experimental, and Western-leaning. This is why Karrueche Tran makes our worst-dressed list in her beach-ready crochet mini.
Most 90s-Inspired: GlorillaWith a streetwear lean, Glorilla gave us full nineties style with spray-painted denim, layered chains, and of course, the peace sign. Yeah, Glo!
Most Unexpected Duo: Taylor Swift and Ice SpiceWe didn’t think we’d spot these two together again so soon, but alas. A video shows the duo in the crowd dancing to “Karma (Remix.)” Ice was in black lace while Swift wore a green “New Heights” cap supporting Travis Kelce’s podcast. Why not.
Best Belly Baring: Charli D’AmelioCharli D’Amelio embraced all black with a layered bikini and sheer skirt at the Celsius “Cosmic Desert” Coachella Event. Cute.
Best Stage Outfit: Doja CatThe internet is rejoicing in what seems to be Doja Cat’s best performance to date, even better than her Scarlet Tour. The hair, the theatrics, the drama! We loved it.
Best Popstar Mini: Sabrina CarpenterCarpenter has become known for her looks, so it’s only fitting she made a statement onstage. She performed in two custom Roberto Cavalli looks — a possible homage to the late designer, who passed that same day.
Least Coachella: Amelia Gray HamlinSome people show up to party, and others show up in casual California attire. Either way, Hamlin was too relaxed for the weekend, IMO. Have some fun, Amelia!
Basic in Brown: Ryan DestinyWhile this look is pared back, we were thrilled to see Ryan Destiny adding a sultry edge to an otherwise neutral ensemble. However, this look would work for a dinner party in NYC, not Coachella.
Best Couple’s Fashion Runner-Up: Suki Waterhouse and Robert PattinsonWaterhouse and Pattinson didn’t shy away from the crowds, and Suki leaned into trends with an oversized fur coat and colorful sneakers.
Best Couple Fashion: Asap and RiriThere’s no denying ASAP and Riri’s influence, star power, and personal style ethos. I don’t care if they look Coachella — they look fly.
Most Off-Theme: Taylor HillIs it Coachella, or is it a baby shower? Taylor Hill, of OG Victoria’s Secret’s fame, should have stood on business.
Most L.A: Alix EarleI can see it so clearly; you’ve been waiting in line at Bootsy Bellows for the past thirty minutes when suddenly, a posse of blondes emerge and get in before you. They’re all wearing this outfit.
Newbie Boring: PookiePookie…you’re famous now! It’s time to be adventurous. Ditch the ruffles and show some upper torso!
Best Edge: ThuySinger and songwriter Thuy embraced her larger-than-life personality with shredded layers, cut-outs, and swaths of lightweight threads. We’re here for it.
Most Minimal: Reneé RappWhile I see the Sporty Spice vision here for Rapp, I wish she would’ve taken more of a sartorial leap of faith. Great set, though.
