Beyonce announced her long-awaited Renaissance World Tour on Wednesday morning, and Bay Area Beyhive members can rejoice. Northern California fans will get a chance to see Queen B in person when she stops at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Aug. 30.
“Renaissance” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart in August 2022. It was Beyonce’s seventh album to reach the top spot — a record for female artists. An accompanying world tour has been expected since the album dropped. Fans have also grown impatient for a visual album, which has been rumored for months.
The performance in August will mark Beyonce’s first Bay Area show since she played Levi’s in 2018 with her husband Jay-Z during the On the Run II tour. Levi’s Stadium was also the location of the famed (and in some circles controversial) Super Bowl 50 halftime show where Beyonce debuted her hit “Formation,” the first single of her iconic 2016 visual album “Lemonade.”
The Renaissance tour will also stop in Los Angeles with a show at SoFi Stadium on Sept. 2, the only other California date scheduled. The other West Coast stops include Glendale, Arizona (Aug. 24), Las Vegas (Aug. 26), Vancouver, British Columbia (Sept. 11) and Seattle (Sept. 13).
With the Beyonce announcement, 2023 is shaping up to be a marquee year for Bay Area stadium shows. Taylor Swift will play two shows at Levi’s Stadium in late July, Ed Sheeran is slated to make a stop in September, Blink-182’s reunion tour is coming to San Jose and Sacramento in May and Madonna has two shows lined up for Chase Center in October.

While tickets for Beyonce’s shows are not yet available, fans are encouraged to register for presale ahead of time. Citi is sponsoring the tour, so fans with Citibank credit cards will likely have easier access to tickets. Registration for the Santa Clara show is live and will stay open through Thursday, Feb. 9.
Ticketmaster is hosting the ticketing process despite its recent debacle with Swift’s tour. The site’s handling of The Eras Tour tickets, which included skyrocketing prices and failures to process sales, was so horrific that the ticketing platform is currently being investigated by Congress.
