Prince Harry shockingly reveals that both he and Prince William urged King Charles not to marry Camilla Parker Bowles — the mistress with whom their father cheated on their mother for years.
Harry, 38, has never spoken out before about his stepmother, the new Queen Consort, but breaks his silence in his new memoir, “Spare,” out Tuesday.
But in the autobiography, he spares no detail when he reveals how he and William are the product of the “three” in the marriage: Princess Diana, King Charles and Camilla.
In an infamous 1995 BBC interview, Diana said: “There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded.”
Sources also told Page Six that Harry goes into detail in the book about drug-taking and teenage antics. He was infamously caught naked during a wild night in Las Vegas in 2012.
Talking about his father’s wedding to longtime love Camilla in April 2005, in a segment of “Spare” seen by Page Six, Harry writes: “Despite Willy and me urging him not to, Pa was going ahead. We pumped his hand, wished him well. No hard feelings.
“We recognized that he was finally going to be with the woman he loved, the woman he’d always loved.
“Fate might’ve intended for him in the first place. Whatever bitterness or sorrow we felt over the closing of another loop in Mummy’s story, we understood that it was besides the point.”
Sources previously told Page Six that Harry is no great fan of Camilla, with whom Charles reportedly renewed a romance in 1986, 10 years before divorcing Diana.
In the book, he writes, “I remember wondering … if she would be cruel to me; if she would be like all the evil stepmothers in the stories.” He added: “Willy had been suspicious of the Other Woman for a long time, which confused and tormented him. When those suspicions were confirmed, he felt agonizing remorse for not having done or said anything before.”
Upon the death of Harry’s beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September, he would be duty-bound to curtsy for Camilla, and bow to his father.
A highly placed royal source said that while William has grown used to Camilla, Harry will never fully accept her.
When Charles and Camilla wed, the couple said she would not use Diana’s title, Princess of Wales.
However, before her death, Queen Elizabeth gave Camilla her blessing, saying: “When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes king, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
Asked about Prince William and Harry’s thoughts on Camilla, former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown recently told the Telegraph: “William has accepted Camilla in terms of what she means to his father. He’s been grown-up about it. ‘My father loves this woman, I can’t fight it, so I won’t.’ Harry, on the other hand, can’t stand Camilla, he doesn’t want Camilla to be queen, he’s very angry that it’s happening. He has not made his peace with it and he probably never will.”
