Lady Gaga’s dog walker was finally released from the hospital, just over a month after being shot in a brazen robbery of the pop star’s two French bulldogs.
Ryan Fischer posted an Instagram video of himself preparing to go home, after complications with his lungs prolonged his hospital stay.
“Recovery isn’t a Straight Line,” Fischer wrote in an emotional caption that discussed the ordeal he faced following the violent West Hollywood dognapping.
Even though nurses initially thought he would not survive the shooting, Fischer made a quick recovery and was moved out of the ICU after a few days.
“I was prepared to quietly start a path to healing from the emotional trauma and continue on my way,” Fischer wrote.
But he then discovered he needed to have a portion of one of his lungs removed after it kept collapsing.
“Life would be back to normal soon enough,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, the strange hissing and glugging coming from my chest every time I took a breath begged to differ with that assessment.”
Gaga’s dogs, Koji and Gustav, were found unharmed after being stolen by the shooters. A third pooch, Miss Asia, stayed with Fischer at the crime scene until paramedics arrived.
The pop star hailed Fischer as a hero in the aftermath of the shooting, and offered a half-million dollars in reward money for the safe return of the dogs.
No arrests have been made in the case, and the motive remains unclear since the crooks didn’t demand ransom or take Gaga’s cash.
